About the Author
Hossein Bidgoli, Ph.D., is professor of Management Information Systems at California State University. Dr. Bidgoli helped set up the first PC lab in the United States. He is the author of 43 textbooks, 27 manuals, and over five dozen technical articles and papers on various aspects of computer applications, information systems and network security, e-commerce, and decision support systems published and presented throughout the world.

Dr. Bidgoli also serves as the editor-in-chief of The Internet Encyclopedia, The Handbook of Information Security, and The Encyclopedia of Information Systems. The Encyclopedia of Information Systems was the recipient of one of the Library Journal's Best Reference Sources for 2002 and The Internet Encyclopedia was recipient of one of the PSP Awards (Professional and Scholarly Publishing), 2004. Hermann Tessenow is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for the History of Medicine at Munich University. Paul U. Awesome series!

My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

So after I read "Stoked", I was totally on board Team Tyler. Like, I could've been voted president, that's how pro-Tyler I was. And I thought Jess was being extremely unfair by breaking things off with him just for keeping the whole snowboarding/parole arrangement thing secret. But that was all before I met Kaleb. And man, after reading "Epic", I can totally understand Jess's dilemma. Choosing between these two guys would be a nightmare! I have no idea what direction Lark O'Neal is going to take this series, but either way, I just have to find out!

Not only are the characters in this series fantastic, the setting is too. I've always wanted to travel to New Zealand, but realistically, that is not going to happen for quite some time. Seeing New Zealand through Jess' eyes, and with Kaleb as her tour guide, I could clearly picture everything from the cities to the beaches and vineyards she visited. It was a truly wonderful reading experience!

There's a bit of a mystery surrounding Jess' past. She does not remember much of her childhood in New Zealand, and wants very much to find out why her mother took her from her father and moved them across the world to the States. While this part of the story takes a backseat to the romance/love triangle aspect, it was present enough to make me curious and want Jess to find all her answers in "Brilliant".

In short, if you love the New Adult genre and haven't discovered the "Going the Distance" series by Lark O'Neal yet, get your butt in gear! I don't think you'll regret it!

An Epic second book!

I read. A lot. But every so often? A book comes along that I get lost in the pages of. That I devour, and am so submerged in the world that the author has created that I don't want to leave. Lark O'Neal (pseudonym for beloved Barbara O'Neal) does that, in the most beautiful of ways.

I stumbled upon the Going The Distance series with Stoked (#1.5) back in Febraury. I didn't realize it was a novella, nor that it was sandwiched in between the two fabulous books at first. But I was sucked in none the less. I loved Tyler, and I fell in love with Jess as I read their story in Random - although I have to admit I always had an extra special place for Tyler, and Jess just came along for the ride.
Book #2 is Jess's side of the story in Stoked. And let me tell you - that brings out a billion emotions in me. I am giving this book a coveted 5 stars because it was incredibly well written, and because in the moments where I forgot about Tyler (which wasn't nearly as much as Jess, apparently?) I was so submersed in the story of Jess and Kaleb that I loved it. O'Neal has a way with words, a way that has captured my heart so fully. Her worlds are so vivid, so magical. And her characters so real that sometimes it hurts.

I want to hate Kaleb. I want to hate Jess. And I still want to wring Tyler's neck for not being open with Jess. (Although I can't blame this all on him - she is stubborn, and annoying and just plain a pain in the butt sometimes!) But that's what makes a good book, right? The emotions that it evokes?

And of course, we leave with no more resolution than we did after Stoked. In fact? I am even less sure of what's going to happen - and that is going to drive me absolutely insane until Brilliant comes out in December!

Favorite in the series so far!!!

So far, this is my favorite book in this series. I loved the setting in New Zealand and Jess's father. I think it's a testament to the author's skill that I still LIKE all the characters, considering the rollercoaster Jess has been on throughout the story and usually in a triangle there's one person who has the advantage.

I can't wait for the next book to see what happens between Jess, Kaleb, and Tyler!

Kev Reynolds is a freelance writer, photojournalist and lecturer. Adequate but not as useful as, say, Coast-to-Coast guide by Stedman for England.

Arrived in mint condition, on time. Includes clockwise and counterclockwise versions of the route. Since people do one or the other, but not both, everyone has no use for either one or another part of the book. Should be two versions. Route descriptions not as detailed as some people would like and need, and not enough detail maps. Includes list of lodging, but no info on what's offered at each or pricing.

good but wish it was just clear and consice without any extra bla bla bla.

Just completed the TMB (its amazing life changing and challenging) The book really helps and also can really confuse I want to make an american worded version the book is English but not how we speak it, there is a lot of extra un helpfull wording when your lost you just want the auther to give clear consice directions. This is the standard book everyone used so I dont think there is a better one I just want it broken down to 1 page main route 1 page alternate rout with key pictures of landmarks to look for - instead there will be a picture of a churh in town meenwhile I just missed an unmarked turn.

There has also been an advent of new technologies and payment solutions which has altered the European payments landscape drastically.

The authors discuss fundamental problems such as substitution between cash and non-cash payment instruments, payment costs, the economics of fees, and the demand for cash and deposit money. They also analyse issues such as two-sided markets, business platforms and the problem of critical mass.

Other chapters focus on new phenomena in payments such as mobile payments, multi-sided platforms, electronic wallets, virtual currencies, decentralised ledgers, private digital currencies, blockchain and instant payments. The authors also review existing regulation for the topic including the revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2), Interchange Fee Regulation (IF/MIF Reg), and the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) project.

About the Author
Jakub Górka holds a PhD in economics and is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Management, University of Warsaw, Poland. He is a member of the Payment Systems Market Expert Group (PSMEG) helping the European Commission to prepare legislation and policy initiatives for payment issues. He is the author of two previous books and numerous research papers, reports and articles. He has provided expert advice for the National Bank of Poland, the Polish Ministry of Finance and for private non-profit and commercial companies within the payments industry. He has been distinguished with several awards, including an award from the Polish Prime Minister.

Is There A God in Heaven?

Prof Lewis lived in a time when the intelligentsia were daring to assert the idea that God perhaps did not exist. Now, religion is taught in our universities along the lines of " How and Why Did Mankind Feel the Need to Invent God?"

The question is still the same. If indeed we are a bundle of random cells, why does any of our rambling matter? What is the basis of declaring anything good or bad? Do what you want, and good luck to you.

No one will ever win this argument, but Prof. Lewis gave a marvelous try at showing belief in God to be a rational choice, though of course asserting that the matter is, in the end, one of heart belief.

If you love God, and love C.S.Lewis, you will enjoy this book. He does get carried away with his extremely erudite logical calisthenics replete with the Greek and Latin quotes to go with them, but after all, he did not deny it, but rather saw his hyperintellectualism as a liability in being a simple witness for Christ.But his erudition reveals what a truly classically educated person has access to in examining a matter. Would we all had access to that kind of education.

Don't start reading Lewis here. For prose, read Surprised by Joy or Mere Christianity. For fun, read Screwtape. Above all, read his Narnia tales, and his Space Trilogy.For a personal memoir of great pathos by someone who could not resist watching himself even at his greatest extremity, read A Grief Observed.

But if you are a college student, read God in the Dock as an antidote. The same if you have children or grandchildren in college. It's a brilliant and entertaining work.

His is a great body of work that revealed a brilliant, quirky, passionate and perpetually truthseeking man.

A profound, mind-blowing masterpeice of theology

After years of struggling with the modern church's lack of appetite for the intellectual, I finally found an author who wasn't afraid to ask the hard questions that plague Christians and non-Christians alike:
> Should we pray, and [why] does it work?
> Why would God want to bother with a tiny, insignificant planet in the universe?
> Has science negated God?
> Why should anyone go to church?
...and many more challenging topics in this complilation of essays written over CS Lewis's lifetime.
The amazing thing about this book is he doesn't just ask the hard questions--he has well thought out, mind-blowing answers as well, backed up by theologians, scientists, the Socratic method, and of course, the Bible. The essays may have been written in the 1940s and 50s, but they have lost none of their relevance or power in today's world.
As a Christian, this book has taken me to a whole new depth of understanding about what I believe. As a thinking person, it challenged me to look at my motivations for everything I do. For example: Why do I try to be a good person? Why is "good" better than "bad"?
I would recommend this book to any Christian with a thirst for deeper understanding of Christian theology. I would also recommend this book to anyone who is interested in what being a Christian REALLY means at the foundation, not what modern culture has tried to make it mean.
Some people may have trouble reading this book --it is definitely not light reading. Lewis was an English professor at Cambridge, and it shows in his dense writing and complex subject matter. He frequently quotes Latin and from sources and authors only a literature scholar would know of. However, the editor does a good job in translating and citing references where appropriate.
It is not enough to say that I have been profoundly moved and changed by this book. Definitely, definitely read it.

C. S. Lewis is considered to be the greatest Christian apologist (defender of the Christianity) of the twentieth century. He is that and so much more. He is inspiring, amusing, no-nonsense, humble and exact. I recommend this book to anyone who is searching for a fuller experience of God. This unique Christian writer can give you a new perspective, can squelch your doubts, or can deepen your faith. Give him a try and stick with him -- you will reap a benefit.

Of all the essay books published, this is the most rewarding. The range of subject matter is impressive and edifying -- from the Miracles essay on the supernatural to Meditation in A Toolshed about looking at and along things to get a complete picture. There are two sections of questions and answers -- one from factory workers at Electric and Musical Industries, Ltd. and one at Magdalene College, Cambridge with an interviewer from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The first is a wide range of subject matter and the second about Christian writing. There is also a sample of leters with subject matter from war to capital punishment. I feel sure that both believers and non-believers can benefit from this book.

About the Author
Dr. Murdaugh received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a doctorate in drug and materials toxicology from the University of Tennessee. While pursuing her doctorate, she was a fellow of the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education. She also completed a traineeship in acute care anticoagulation at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital and certification in asthma patient care at the University of Tennessee. She is currently a Director of Accreditation and Medication Safety for the Pharmacy Solutions business of Cardinal Health. Lee has over 27 years experience in the healthcare industry and in assisting more than 1000 hospitals in preparation for regulatory and accreditation surveys. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, she served as the Director of Pharmacy in a 535-bed tertiary care hospital. Dr. Murdaugh's practice interests are in the areas of medication safety, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and competence assessment. Lee is an author and contributing author to several ASHP publications and  has also published in professional journals such as Hospital Pharmacy. She is a frequent speaker to national and state pharmacy professional organizations on accreditation, regulatory, medication safety, competence assessment, and other related topics.
