There's nothing better than a Muriel Jensen book to spend a cozy autumn evening with. You root for Corie and Ben and all the kids in Teresa's daycare the whole time you're reading. (And for Teresa herself--is her story coming, too?) I haven't finished it yet, but only because I absolutely had to get to sleep.

Main findings of the book are related to a series of models which capture fundamental aspects of intelligent cities making and operation. These models consider structure, function, planning, strategies toward intelligent environments and a model of governance based on mobilisation of communities, knowledge architectures, and innovation cycles.

I simply could not put this book down! I love history and religion, but have seldom picked up a book that captured my attention from the very first page and held it all the way through. The narrative is both informative and interesting, with a lot of important facts very well condensed into an easy and practical read. I learned so much in such a short time, and would thoroughly recommend this book.

Good basic explanation of how the structure and creeds of the Christian church came about.

Mr. Hodges explains so clearly the different influences and environments which resulted in the structures and creeds of the Christian church. It's so nice to have an explanation not only of what happened but why it was happening at the time. Very clearly and personably written. I just wish there weren't so many typos.

As a student of the early church and the Roman Empire of that time, I found Mr. Hodges' book accurate and very interesting. I learned new things about about Roman society, the religion of the empire and the early Christian Church. The author presents himself as a Christian in side of orthodoxy; however, the agnostic or critic of orthodoxy will not be disappointed. As an ebook it contains a number of typographic errors that could have been avoided with more proof-reading, but they did not distract me from the read.

Over the years, I ve used a number of movie clips in a variety of training programs. Why? Because Hollywood has more money to spend on movies and usually has better actors than we can afford in corporate training videos. When I was doing a program for the Defense Security Institute, I used a clip from Beverly Hills Cop where Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) climbs the fence of a bonded warehouse. When accosted, Axel turns the situation around and soon has everyone opening doors, files, and just about everything else. It was a perfect five-minute clip to have the defense contractors divided into two groups one looking for protocols that were violated and the other looking for the procedures that were violated. Participants watched with a different focus, and the ensuing discussion drove home a variety of learning points much more quickly than any other method I could have chosen. Good training resource and idea jumpstarter

This is both a good reference for those who want to add impact and interest to the business training courses they create, as well as nice idea jumpstarter - in that it made me start thinking of scenes from other movies, tv shows and even commercials that might make useful tools around a topic.

The clips span a variety of types of movies and scenes, from "The Muppet Movie" and "Forrest Gump" to "Gladiator" and "Empire Strikes Back", so it's easy to find something appropriate.

One of it's better features is that each clip is listed with the topic areas that it is applicable to, and there's a selection for about every major business topic you'd train on (e.g. change management, teamwork, problem solving, goal setting, discrimination, innovative thinking, sales, etc., etc., etc). Plus, there's an index to the over 100 topic areas covered which directs you to the most applicable clips for your subject.

Another feature that helps it's usefulness is that suggested clips that are proceeded by something that may not be suitable for all audiences or offensive are flagged with a CAUTION! to alert you to make sure to stop and start them appropriately.

Each suggested clip is also listed with the movie title, distributor, year, film rating, plot summary, description of the clip, the time it appears in the movie (if you set it the DVD or VCR timer to 0:00 at the beginning of the film), the duration of the scene, and discussion questions.

A couple of things could be slightly improved. I agree with another reviewer that it would be easier to find the clips if they included the DVD chapter number, and time within that chapter. I also didn't find the discussion questions provided all that great, but imagine they're more intended to get you thinking about the types of questions most relevant to what you're communicating.

I am an educator in a hospital and this book helped me develop a presentation for managers where I work. They're a tough bunch, but they loved it. Using movies is a great stool to teach leadership.

It's a good book set up for quick references and teaching points. The only negative that I had was it would have been nice if the chapters were included for the clips, since we are now completely in the digital era. Otherwise an excellent guide to help.

Great resource for a quick review of Italian verb conjugations

As a teacher of Italian for adults, who are quick and demanding learners, I know how important it is to have handy a quick review chart of Italian verb conjugations which can be very useful when you cannot remember the difference between the future endings and the conditional (they're so similar!) So it's nice to have this chart readily available to refresh my recollection of the tenses. Since we are not immersed in Italian, we need to do a lot of memorization of verb conjugations in order to master the differences in tenses. I need all the help I can get sometimes in order to remember all these tenses!

Could use more irregulars

Since Italian is almost as full of irregular verbs as English, conjugations of the more common ones would be helpful. But as a resource, this card works well. I've put it in my travel notebook along side the similar vocabulary card and both will be airplane study on my trips to Italy.
