By far the best book for understanding how SPICE (and circuit simulation, in general) works.
Computer programs for doing some circuit simulations are included but they are in the FORTRAN language,
but that is not a problem.
I have bought two other more modern books on circuit simulation and they are pretty much useless.
This book by Raghuram explains everything very clearly.
He explains with great clarity how dynamic components, such as capacitors and inductors, are modeled using linear components.
He also explains how BJT's and MOSFETS are modeled, how to write the circuit equations, and how Newton's method is used to solve those equations.
The other books that I have bought on circuit simulation seem to completely "lose it" by getting sidetracked on other
peripheral issues, such as sparse matrices, etc.
This is also the least expensive book that I have got on circuit simulation from Amazon.
While this is an older book, I now strongly believe that older books, and just about everything else that is older, are better.
